Opportunities to explore Michigan's North Country are endless here, where over half of the county is state or federal land. Here are some of our favorite places to hike!

The Manistee River Trail & North Country Trail

The Manistee River Trail is an 8.8 scenic trail following the shores of the Manistee River, passing through scenic overlooks, rustic campsites, waterfalls, and stream crossings perfect for day or overnight hikers. The River Trail is connected to the North Country Trail via the largest wooden suspension bridge in Michigan's lower peninsula to create a 23 mile loop. The closest access point to the cottage is at Red Bridge.
